We are currently recruiting for new members to join Shine. Membership is open to all ages – children, youth and adults. Membership is by audition workshop on Sunday 10th May 2026 from 11.00am to 2.00pm. Please note we will accept applications from children in Primary 3 and above.
At the audition workshop we will teach you songs, dance and drama. No preperation required.
All new members (children, youth and adults) will appear in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in September. New Youth Theatre members will also appear in Les Miserables School Edition in November. New Shine Production members will also appear in our summer concert at the Lighthouse and our Touring Company.
An announcement about our January 2027 production in the Theatre Royal, Glasgow will be made in due course.
There are 3 companies within Shine: SHINE KIDS for P4-S1, SHINE YOUTH THEATRE for S2-17yrs and SHINE PRODUCTIONS for 18yrs+
We rehearse throughout the year (except July) and stage 3 to 4 productions annually in a variety of venues across central Scotland including the Town House, Hamilton, the Theatre Royal, Glasgow and at our own studio theatre, The Lighthouse.
We rehearse in our purpose-built studios and arts centre, The Lighthouse, Neidpath Road, Carluke, ML8 5UF.
Our rehearsals are on Sundays for a minimum of 2 hours. Rehearsals have various start and finish times and a schedule is posted on the Shine app.
We also rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 6.30pm with smaller groups and main cast. All members must be available to attend on Sundays and Tuesdays.
You should wear loose, comfortable clothing and trainers or soft dance shoes. Our Coffee Bar is open during rehearsals selling a selection of hot & cold drinks, toasties, sweets, and snacks. Please bring your own water bottle.
If you are successful in gaining a place, members of Shine Kids and Shine Youth Theatre pay monthly membership fees (£45.00 per month) and a production fee for each show you appear in (£100.00). Shine Productions members pay monthly membership fees (£30.00 per month) and a production fee of £70.00.

• Members must be available for all rehearsals on Sundays (daytime) and Tuesday (evenings). All absences must be reported. Membership is cancelled if more than 3 rehearsals are missed.
• Members must be available for additional and longer rehearsals scheduled in the lead up to show week.
• Members must attend all dress and technical rehearsals (this is essential and non-negotiable).
• Members must pay a monthly Membership Fee and Production Fee.
• Members to pay Production Fee prior to starting rehearsals. These fees are non-refundable.
